Around 200 people, participated in the programme and they represented various churches, organizations, institutes, colleges and seminaries. UESI-Delhi extended its support to organize the programme. Mr. Raaj Mondol, CEO of Salt Initiatives moderated the Lecture.
In his lecture on Peace and conflict, Dr. Vinoth Ramachandra scanned through the various conflicts across the world especially conflicts in South Asia, analysed the causes of the conflicts, costs of the conflicts and responses of the Church. He emphasized the role of the Church both in standing for justice and for bringing peace and reconciliation looking beyond the geographical, cultural and national boundaries or such affinities. Though he acknowledged the human limitations in bringing justice and peace, he emphasized our engagement at present looking forward for an order under God’s rule where justice and peace are celebrated. He concluded by saying “In the here and now healing is always partial, even forgiveness does not remove the emotional scars and physical pain. Hence we live with a sense of irreparable loss. In the world to come our humanity will share fully the resurrected Christ and then we will experience the completion of our healing”.
